Microsoft Firewall Configuration

Overview :

The BiblioTECH Client need to communicate to the BiblioTECH Server on specific IP Ports. A Firewall can block such communication and, if implemented, must be set to allow access via the BiblioTECH ports.

 

Prerequisites :

Windows Administrative level access to the Server.

 

Description :

Note :      The following notes have been prepared based on a system which is using the default port numbers – if any have been changed, please adjust as required

Microsoft Windows XP Firewall

Open Control Panel, then open Windows Firewall and switch to the Exceptions tab.

 

Select the [Add Port…] button

Select the [OK] button 

(repeat the above process for the other two BiblioTECH Services 

 

 When done, close down the “Windows Firewall” manager

 Microsoft Windows Vista Firewall

Start the Vista Security Center

 

Select the Windows Firewall (on the left-hand column)…

 

Select “Change Settings” …

 

                Select the “Exceptions” TAB …

 

Select the [Add Port…] button

Fill in details as above then select [OK] button 

(repeat the above process for the other two BiblioTECH Services 

   

When done, close down the “Security Center”
